Dr. Lucretia Mason-Underdue is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia with more than twenty years of experience in behavioral health, education and community wellness.

She is the founder of ANOTHER STEP Counseling Services LLC, her private practice, where she counsels children, adolescents and adults through anxiety, grief, life transitions, family challenges and burnout. She also serves as a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) with Magellan Health, supporting service members and their families.

Her clinical path includes work as a Behavioral Healthcare therapist for the City of Portsmouth and more than 18 years as a Professional School Counselor with Portsmouth Public Schools — experience that gives her a rare depth of understanding of young people, parents and the systems around them.

Dr. Mason-Underdue earned her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Education in Counseling from Virginia State University, and later completed doctoral studies at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. She is known for an approach that is warm, honest and practical, and for thoughtfully integrating faith, mental health and community wellness for clients who want it.

Beyond the counseling room, she has served in a range of leadership roles, and in 2026 was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Virginia ABC Board — a reflection of her ethical leadership and commitment to the people of the Commonwealth.
